Jed travelled to Braidholm hoping to record their firth successive win in Glasgow, but a powerful pack and a heavy pitch gave the home side the edge, despite some heroic defending by the Borderers in the second half.

In the opening quarter, it was the hosts who found themselves on the defensive, however, as Jed surged forward. GHA held firm, though, and it was they who took first blood with a penalty midway through the half. But Donald Grieve landed a three-points for the visitors just before the halfway stage to level the scores at 3-3.

The home pack began to pressurise the Jed line after the restart and were rewarded with a penalty to take the lead. Then Jed found themselves reduced to 14 men, when Paul Thomson, who had just come on as a replacement, was sin-binned for an infringement at the breakdown

The follwoing 10 minutes produced some incredible defence with GHA keeping Jed pinned back in their own half through some fine kicking. The hosts continued to lay siege on the visitors’ lne as the game neared its end and Jed looked to have thwarted another effort, but when the pack was shunted back under their own posts, they were unable to stop the GHA scrum-half Andrew Boag pouncing on the ball to secure the points and the simple conversion for Noonan.
