Kelso continued their long struggle to avoid relegation when they met GHA at Poynder Park on Saturday.

Right from the start Kelso showed they meant business and it was no surprise when Stuart Lowrie went over after 9 mins for the opening try. Shortly afterwards, following good work from the Kelso forwards, a massive gap appeared in the GHA defence, allowing Iain Fairley to stroll through at his leisure for the 2nd touchdown. Kevin Utterson converted to make it 12-0.

GHA then had their best spell in the game and Niall Cassie scored to make it 12-5. After that it was all Kelso and 2 further Kevin Utterson penalties made the half time score 18-5. In the 2nd half Kelso kept up the pressure and further tries from Torrie Callander and Ewan Ford , both converted by Kevin Utterson kept the Tweedsiders on top. Another Kevin Utterson penalty completed the scoring to give Kelso a 35-5 win and 5 valuable points.

The news from Hughenden that Berwick had also collected 5 points, means that Kelso with 41 points are still not clear of relegation worries. However irrespective of what Berwick do in their remaining game, Kelso know that 2 points from their last 2 games will definitely keep them in Premier 2.
