The day was a good one for rugby when compared to the conditions experienced recently and Biggar had a good opening spell with Sam Muir repeating his feats of last week to score a great Biggar try.

As had been the case against Peebles, the fleet-footed Muir followed on in a wide arcing run after winger Scott Watson had advanced his initial break. The winger kept the move going before flipping the ball to Muir who finished the move off for a fine try.

Unfortunately the conversion to this try and to a second score was also missed. The second score was touched down by captain Murray Thomson, this another well-worked try and coming from well-taken line-out ball by Cairns. Ted Tauroa made a surge before quick ball was shipped out to Simeon James at centre. He it was who gave the scoring pass to Thomson who intruded from full-back.

GHA were not to be outdone, however, their stand-off James Noonan on target with his boot as he has been for Ayr in the past and notching a welcome number of points, too many opportunities being again ‘presented’ to him following the disappointingly high number of penalties conceded by Biggar.

A close run half-time score was the precursor to a much better second half from the home side and it was this which gave them the points. Biggar had their play disrupted by injury with McLachlan again in trouble with his dodgy shoulder and further injuries to Michael McKeand and Scott Watson at the end of the game.
