GHA will be looking to bounce back as they take on Hillhead/Jordanhill in their third group game in the RBS West Regional Cup.

The Braidholm side fell to a 33-0 defeat against Premier Division league leaders Ayr last weekend and will be hoping for an improved performance against a side in the league above.

Hillhead/Jordanhill lie fourth in the National League and will be looking for their first win in the Cup this season having also lost to Ayr a few weeks ago.

Both sides met in pre-season with Hillhead/Jordanhill coming out on top.

Head Coach Gordon MacPherson is hoping GHA will show what they have learnt from taking on Ayr last weekend. He said:

“Hillhead/Jordanhill are doing quite well in the second division. They won’t be easy opponents because they have quite a strong side. We played them in the pre-season and they beat us quite comfortably. We will have gained a lot from the last game such as the intensity of the play. Hopefully we can bring that intensity to the game against Hillhead/Jordanhill and do a bit better than we did in pre-season”

The National League division is where GHA will want to be this time next year and if they win their remaining games in the league it is where they will be come the end of the season.

And Head Coach Gordon MacPherson believes Saturday’s match will show how big a step up playing second division compared to third division rugby is. He said:

“We obviously want to be in the second division next year that is our aim. So it will be good to gauge ourselves against a second division team. It will be interesting to see how we get on.”

Saturday’s Cup clash is the last before the league campaign resumes.

With GHA top of the RBS Championship League A Head Coach Gordon MacPherson believes it is important to produce a good performance against Hillhead/Jordanhill. He added:

“It is important to perform well against these teams. Not necessarily the result. It
would be nice to get a result and a good performance.”
