GHA get set to host the best team in Scotland as they take on Premier division leaders Ayr in the RBS West Regional Cup this Saturday and both sides will be praying that the frosty weather subsides enough to allow the game to go ahead.

The Braidholm side will be hoping to keep up their good run which has seen them take top spot in the Championship League A table.

However they will know it will be a tough ask against the Premier division leaders who have lost just once all season way back in October.

The last time both sides met Ayr ran out comfortable 33-0 winners.

Head Coach Gordon MacPherson is hoping to cause them more problems this time around.

He said: “It will be a huge step up as they are the top side in the country.

“We are under no illusions that they are a quality side. We will hopefully give them a tougher
test this time and pose them a few more problems than the last time we played them.

“We didn’t take any opportunities and didn’t get many chances last time.

“Hopefully we will pose them a few more problems on Saturday.”

GHA finally got back to action last weekend with a 34-0 whitewash against the West of Scotland after three weeks without a game due to the weather.

Meanwhile Ayr defeated Hillhead/Jordanhill 55-5 in the Cup. The first of three Cup games in
a week for them. However Head Coach Gordon MacPherson doesn’t believe that tiredness in the Ayr ranks will have any impact on Ayr’s performance.

He said: “They probably have got a very big squad. They will rotate their squad around.

“They are a fairly professional outfit so I am sure they will rest up and be ready for us.

“I don’t think the tiredness thing will come into play and they will be well prepared.”

Kick Off on Saturday is 2pm.
