GHA will look to maintain their winning start to the season as they face Aberdeen Grammar at Rubislaw.

The Braidholm side have had a great start to the BT National League Division 1 season beating both Stewart’s Melville and Watsonians, teams who finished 2 and 3 last season.

Next up they face Aberdeen Grammar who were relegated last season from the Premiership and will provide a further examination of GHA’s promotion prospects.

GHA Captain Andy Henderson is expecting a tough test.

He said: “Aberdeen Grammar have come down from the league above. They are a strong team and probably haven’t had the start to the season that they would have wanted or expected.

“I have no doubt that they will be one of the top teams in the league and we are expecting a tough game.

“Also it is a long trip and it is going to be a tough challenge.”

Aberdeen Grammar are still looking for their first win of the season having drawn against Stewart’s Melville and losing last weekend to Peebles.

Meanwhile GHA will look to make it three league wins in a row after overcoming Stewart’s Melville 28-26 at Braidholm fighting off a second half comeback from the Edinburgh side.

GHA Captain Andy Henderson believes the start to the season has given the team extra confidence.

He said: “It is a great confidence boost. To get the wins considering we have had a tough start to the season is especially nice.

“We have set promotion as a target. If you were looking at our results last season it would be quite ambitious.

“Stewart’s Melville and Watsonians are teams who were at the top of the league last season. So hopefully we can show consistency and keep putting performances in like that.

“Certainly it is a promising start to the season but we are not getting carried away. We know it is very early but we are optimistic.”
