Trevor Carmichael has been appointed as the new Head Coach at GHA. Outgoing Head Coach Euan Clark was recently offered a new role with the Glasgow & the West Academy and this full time position meant he had to step down from his GHA role in February with Trevor, his assistant, leading the team through the crucial final 4 games of the Tennent’s National 1 campaign. Following a strong finish to the season the club are delighted to have been able to appoint Trevor to the role permanently as he heads up an exciting new look coaching team for next season’s Premiership campaign.

Calum Forrester the former Glasgow Warrior and GHA player who won the Premiership as Head Coach of Ayr in 2017 will assist alongside another former Warrior and GHA product James Eddie. The club is also delighted to announce that current Glasgow Warrior and Canada international DTH Van Der Merwe will work with the backs. Gordon Rennie, the former Glasgow Warriors Strength & Conditioning Coach, will continue to head up the club’s S & C programme alongside Andy Cornwell.

GHA Director of Rugby Rangi Jericevich said: “The club would like to congratulate Euan Clark on his new job in full time professional rugby. Euan has worked extremely hard over the past 3 seasons as Head Coach and thoroughly deserves the opportunity that he has been given to progress his coaching career in the elite game. He leaves us in a very good place and with our best wishes.

“Trevor has excelled in the Head Coach role in the short time since taking it on and has got the best out of the squad in what was a very difficult run in. He is a former GHA player and club captain and is passionate about the club and building on the progress we have made. To have people of the calibre of Calum, James, DTH, Gordon and Andy working alongside him is also as strong a coaching team as we could hope to put together.

“Next season for us is about raising our level to challenge for the Premiership title. We have a long term ambition to be the leading club side in Scotland and have been undergoing an ongoing process of investment in our facilities and coaching to allow us to progress towards that goal.”

On his appointment, Trevor said – “I am grateful to Euan Clark for giving me the opportunity to work with him over the past two seasons and I wish him well in his new position. I am excited and looking forward to the challenge ahead with the support of a great coaching team. We are looking forward to building on the progress of the last few seasons and developing our squad for Premiership rugby.”
