Not many players will play in a 0-0 game of rugby in their careers. These guys have managed it before they have reached the age of 18.

On a typical Lochshore afternoon (ie wind and rain) the two teams took to the park with a win on their mind. GHA being the more confident having won 37 – 5 three weeks earlier in the same fixture at Braidholm, whilst Garnock wanted to atone for the heavy defeat last month.

This was certainly a game of two halves. All GHA in the first half, and all Garnock in the second. Neither particularly interesting……

GHA scorned the chance of a kickable penalty after 5 minutes, and instead went for a quick tap which was well defended. It was all downhill from there. Garnock’s only visits into GHA half came about through the visitors mistakes, of which there were many.

Half time 0 – 0

After the turnaround GHA had to do all the defensive work. Most of the game was played between the 22’s, and although Garnock had three penalty attempts in the second period, their normally reliable kicker was off target with two and fell short with the third.

It was a day of poor decision making from GHA, forcing unnecessary passes, holding the ball when they should have passed and passing when the should have held on to it.

With neither side really looking like scoring a draw seemed a fair result
