Jon Welsh, the former GHA prop, has signed a new three-year contract with Glasgow Warriors. He joined Warriors in 2008 after impressive performances for Scotland’s Club International team, and he has become a regular starter at loose head this season. He made his debut for Scotland A in the win against Tonga at Galashiels two months ago, and he will train with Scotland’s Six Nations squad at St Andrews next week.

Welsh, as reported on Warriors’ website, is thrilled to agree a new contract before he joins up with the national squad for the first time. “It was always my ambition to stay here in Glasgow,” he said. “Thankfully that’s worked out. I’m now looking to continue the way I’m going and give it my all in a Glasgow jersey.

“Glasgow is my home town, and every time I run out onto the Firhill pitch it’s fantastic. I now just want to focus on playing my rugby with Glasgow Warriors.”
